Maine resident Marylin Quint-Rose has been a practicing sculptor for most of her life. Born in Boston, and self-tutored at a young age by the collections of the Museum of the Museum of Fine Arts, Quint-Rose graduate from Wheelock College with a degree in Education and received her MFA from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts, Bard College. In the late 1960s, while teaching at the School of the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts, she discovered the possibilities of working with handmade paper and since it has become her primary medium.
Dedicated to her art and teaching, Quint-Rose has directed numerous workshops and residencies in design, collage and papermaking for children and adults throughout New England. She has also be a frequent guest lecturer at the university level. Her work has been shown internationally and is collected by serveral corporations and museums, including the Portland Museum of Art. In 1992 Quint-Rose was one of only ten Americans selected to show at the Leopold-Hoesche Museum in Duren, Germany, one of several paper art museums.
Presently, Quint-Rose is represented by The Barn Gallery in Ogonquit, Maine and Mars Hall Gallery in Tenants Harbor, Maine.
